This application was withdrawn 1/7/2009 - originally posted October 31, 2008: Notice is hereby given that Charles Gregory of Virginia Beach has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate a pound net in the southwestern portion of Chesapeake Bay, along the shore between Lynnhaven Inlet and Cape Henry. The net is to be located 300 yards from the nearest shoreline, at Latitude 36 Degrees 55 Minutes 17 Seconds N, and Longitude 76 Degrees 04 Minutes 06 Seconds W, and 435 yards upstream and 345 yards downstream of existing adjacent pound nets. The net is proposed to run in an approximately northerly direction and is 1200 feet in length.
This application was withdrawn - originally posted October 9, 2008: Notice is hereby given that Dirk Sanford of Virginia Beach has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate two pound nets in new locations, in lower Chesapeake Bay, along the shore between Lynnhaven Inlet and Cape Henry. The first pound net is to be located 501 feet from the shoreline, at Latitude N 36 Degrees 55 Minutes 26.8 Seconds N and Longitude 76 Degrees 03 Minutes 04.6 Seconds W, about 325 yards west and 390 yards east of existing pound net stands. This net is proposed to be 1200 feet in length. The second pound net is to be located approximately 1600 feet from the shoreline, at Latitude 36 Degrees 55 Minutes 17 Seconds N and Longitude 76 Degrees 04 Minutes 23 Seconds W, offshore and inline with an existing pound net stand. This net is proposed to be 900 feet in length.
September 16, 2008: Notice is hereby given that Ernest L. George of White Stone has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate a pound net in the Rappahannock River approximately 2 miles west of Windmill Point Light in 17 feet of water at Latitude N 37 Degrees 36.273 Minutes and Longitude W 76 Degrees 16.732 Minutes. The net will be 900 feet in length.
July 31, 2008: Notice is hereby given that William H. Haynie of Reedville, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate two pound nets in the Chesapeake Bay. The first pound net will be located in 1.25 miles southeast of Dameron Marsh, 3500 yards south of Great Wicomico River Light and at Latitude 37 Degrees 46.485 Minutes N and Longitude 76 Degrees 15.809 MinutesW. The second net will be located 500 yards west of Great Wicomico River Light, 0.5 miles east of RN "4", immediately southwest of Fleeton Point, and at Latitude 37 Degrees 48.319 MinutesN and Longitude 76 Degrees16.275 MinutesW. Each net will be 800 feet in length.
July 2, 2008: Notice is hereby given that Adron W. Williams of Saxis, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate two pound nets in Pocomoke Sound, Accomac County. The first pound net will be located in Pocomoke Sound, north of the mouth of Deep Creek, about 300 yards south of the Guilford Flats Junction Light, 1.5 miles from the nearest shore and at Latitude 37 Degrees 50.416 MinutesN and Longitude 75 Degrees 46.560 Minutes W. The second net will be located in Pocomoke Sound, near Drum Bay, about 200 yards southeast of Pocomoke Light 10 Seconds, and at Latitude 37 Degrees 54.605 Minutes N and Longitude 75 Degrees 45.794 Minutes W. Each net will be 1200 feet in length.
January 16, 2008: Notice is hereby given that Keith Like of Cape Charles, Virginia has applied to the Marine Resources Commission to license and locate two pound nets in new locations. The first net is to be located in the Chesapeake Bay in Accomack County near the entrance to Great Gut and north of the entrance to Guilford Creek, at Latitude N 37 Degrees 52.11 Minutes and Longitude W 75 Degrees 41.76 Minutes. The second net is to be located in the Chesapeake Bay in Accomack County off Simpson Point at the mouth of France Creek at Latitude N 37 Degrees 50.30 Minutes and Longitude W 75 Degrees 43.01 Minutes.
